Race to Dubai 2012

golferRory McIlroy went one step further than his second-placed finish the previous year as he won the Race to Dubai for the first time in his career. The Northern Irishman also equalled Luke Donaldís feat of topping both the European Tour and the US PGA Tourís money list in the same year.

There were many high points for McIlroy to cherish throughout 2012, most notably when he won the US PGA Championship in August by an incredible eight shots. He became No.1 in the world and finished in perfect fashion by grabbing another title at the DP World Tour Championship.

Englandís Justin Rose claimed second position, thanks partly to his victory at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, while Masters runner-up Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa broke into the top three in the final standings.

Donald might not have been able to defend his title, finishing down in seventh, but he was able to celebrate success at the flagship BMW PGA Championship in May.
